n celebration of the opening day of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Japan’s Air Self-Defense Force aerobatic team, Blue Impulse, will conduct a rehearsal flight over Osaka on April 10th. The flight route and schedule details have been released, giving spectators a glimpse of the breathtaking performance that will take place on the opening day of the Expo on April 13th.
According to the official website of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, the rehearsal flight will be held at the same time as the scheduled performance on the Expo’s opening day. It is customary for the rehearsal flight to follow the same route as the main event. The performance on the opening day will see Blue Impulse take off from Kansai International Airport around 11:40 AM, flying past iconic landmarks such as Tsutenkaku Tower and Osaka Castle. The aircraft will then fly over the symbol of the 1970 Osaka Expo, the “Tower of the Sun” in Suita City, as well as Hirakata Park, before returning to Osaka Castle and heading to the Expo’s man-made island, Yumeshima. The flight performance will take place in the sky above the Expo venue around 12:00 PM, lasting for about 15 minutes.
Please note that the flight route is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
This performance marks the first time in 35 years that Blue Impulse will perform over Osaka, with the last similar flight being during the opening day of the “International Garden and Greenery Exposition” (Flower Expo) on April 1, 1990.
Make sure to keep an eye on the sky and witness this stunning spectacle as Blue Impulse takes flight above Osaka, adding to the excitement of the Osaka-Kansai Expo!
