About Yuka

Hi, I’m Yuka – a Japanese cooking instructor based in Osaka. I love welcoming travelers from all over the world into my kitchen and sharing the joy of Japanese home-style meals.
I was born and raised in Osaka, a true local at heart. I spent my university and graduate school years in the United States, where I made lifelong friends from around the world. One of my favorite memories is potluck parties—everyone brought a dish from home and shared stories. Eating and talking together like that meant so much to me.
Before starting this cooking class, I worked in politics, thinking about society from a big-picture perspective. Now, I’ve found joy in something much more personal: face-to-face connection through food. Like many travelers, I love joining local cooking classes wherever I go—and now, I host my own in Osaka.
At home, I’m a mom of three. I cook all our meals—including early morning lunchboxes—and sometimes, my kids even help during class, which adds a special, heartwarming touch.
There are many cooking classes in Osaka, but this one is a bit different. We focus on everyday Japanese home cooking—dishes you can actually recreate when you return home. Before we cook, we visit a few local food shops around Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. You’ll meet real shopkeepers and learn about ingredients and food culture firsthand. It’s a slower, more personal side of Osaka—away from the busy streets of Namba, Tennoji, and Umeda.
If you're curious about the classes I teach, check out our popular sessions on Okonomiyaki, Bento, Katsu Curry, and Ramen & Gyoza.

Let’s cook, eat, and connect—just like friends.
